Is it legal for my boss to take hourly wage away and give it to another employee?

About a month ago, on a pay day my boss came up and said one of the employees came to him saying I was bragging about how much I make, (lie) then he said they were complaining that I shouldnt be making as much as them so he took .50 away from me and gave them each a .25 raise. Not really fair, but i'm a team player. Is this even legal to do. The kicker is he already did it with telling me first, he gave me my check a few minutes later with the amount already deducted, so this tells me he did it without my permission. Any thoughts?
